Plot: A robot boy and a human boy team up to save their respective parents, who are being held captive by the organization that funded the robot's creator. Full summary » | »
Story: The story begins when a scientist is working on an intelligent robot for humanitarian purposes, who discovers the company he works for is intends to use the robots for military purposes. The scientist steals one of the robots which ends up being lost and broken, then is fixed by a lonely 11-year-old boy. A robot boy and a human boy team up to save their respective parents, who are being held captive by the organization that funded the robot's creator. Bobby Coleman is the clear star of this Robo buddy flick and eventhough this actor is very young he has amassed quite a list of filmcredits, more than a heck of a lot of adult actors. I know this is an'off the shelf' SciFi for kids affair but it's been put together withenough care and attention to detail that it's accessible to everyoneand not just little kids. I haven't been a little kid for 40 years nowbut I still enjoyed it. It didn't come close to satisfying my brain butit entertained and that's ultimately all that we can ask of a filmsometimes.
The acting, for a kids movie was better than expected and even with theusual suspects performing it was clearly taken seriously which is wherethese types of films usually fail. I should know, my young daughter hasmade me sit through quite a few of them. What was also nice was thestory element but even though it's ridiculously and unashamedly clichédI still enjoyed it as I'm sure you will.

In New Orleans, the scientist Allan Topher (David Eigenberg) of theKinetech Laboratories develops the robot with artificial intelligenceCode 328 programmed to work as rescue and search machine and to learnthe human emotions. However, the president and CEO Porter (Kim Coates)intends to use the robot as a weapon to search and destroy and sellsone hundred units to the dealer Esperenza (Joaquim de Almeida) for 75million dollars. Allan opposes to Porter's intention and is fired.However, before leaving the company, he deletes his files and stealsCode 328. Allan and the robot are chased by Porter's security team andin the pursuit, he loses the robot that breaks in parts in a garbagecontainer.
Meanwhile, the nerd boy Henry Montgomery Keller (Bobby Coleman) hasjust wined a prize for his project in the science fair of his schoolbut he is bullied by the school bully and hides in the garbagecontainer where the pieces of Code 328 are. Henry brings the robot homeand fixes it. Then he names him as Cody and introduces him to hismother Joanna (Penelope Ann Miller) and his sister Meagan (HollistonColeman). Cody becomes Henry's best friend and the pride and joy of theKeller family. When Henry seeks out Cody's "father", he does not knowthat Allan is looked on by Porter's men. When Henry and Cody meetAllan, they are hunted by the security guards. Now, Allan and Henry andhis family have to find a way to save Cody and avoid the selling of onehundred robots to Esperenza.
"Robosapien: Rebooted", a.k.a. "Cody the Robosapien", is a delightfulmovie for the whole family. I loved the adventures of Cody and hisfriend Henry in New Orleans. The plot is predictable but anyway Ibelieve that viewers that appreciate the genre family entertainmentwill find it enjoyable. My vote is eight.

This movie is made by the producers of X-Men, Iron Man, and Spider Man.You can see the same style of cinematography in this movie and also thesame style of opening and closing montages. Although the credits of themovie don't indicate it, the real star of this movie is Bobby Coleman.He is a very down to earth actor, unlike most young actors who aresnot-nosed brats. It is interesting that his REAL sister (Holliston -best known for "Bless The Child" with Kim Basinger and "Dinner WithFriends" with Greg Kinnear and "Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman" with JaneSeymour) is Bobby's sister in THIS movie in which their real parentsRobert and Doris also appear. Bobby has been the lead character inseveral movies and TV shows including: "Martian Child" with John & JoanCusack, Anjelica Houston and Howard Hessman; "Take" with Minnie Driver;"Post Grad" with Michael Keaton and Carol Burnett; "The Last Song" withMiley Cyrus and Greg Kinnear; "Snowmen" with Ray Liotta and ChristopherLloyd; "Must Love Dogs" with Stockard Channing and Christopher Plummer;and last year he took some time off to go off on 2 expeditions to themountains of Switzerland and the deepest, darkest, dangerous parts ofthe Amazon with Mike Horn - the Jacques Cousteau of the 21st Century.In "Cody The Robosapien" set in New Orleans - Bobby portrays Henry, whois quite a bit like Bobby. The movie is a fast paced roller coaster ofaction, without anybody being killed, and no foul language, making it aPG-13 movie for the whole family. Bobby does a great job in his actingin that he is interacting with a CGI robot that was added in theediting room. If you like the movie "E.T. The Extra Terrestrial" youwill love this also. It is sort of like "E.T." on steroids. Some of thesame effects used in Iron Man are used for Robosapien. I gave thismovie a rating of 10, because in the genre of family films, I can'tthink of any film that is any better. It is safe to go to this moviewithout having to cover anybody's eyes or ears, or require anexplanation of the birds and the bees. Little kids will love the robot,whereas older kids will relate to Bobby's character, and adults willwant to trade their own kids in for Bobby.
