Johnny English Reborn (2011) Synopsis :
Johnny English (Rowan Atkinson) is learning martial arts in Tibet as penance for an earlier disastrous mission in Mozambique. His Tibetan guru and mentor, Ting Wang, is actually an MI7 sleeper agent: their employers have requested Johnny's services.Johnny returns MI7's London headquarters (now Toshiba British Intelligence) and is assigned by new boss "Pegasus" (Gillian Anderson) to stop a plot to assassinate the Chinese premier during scheduled talks with the Prime Minister. Johnny also meets with friend and fellow agent Simon Ambrose (codenamed "Agent One") and MI7's resident inventor, Patch Quartermain. He is also assigned a junior agent, Tucker, to accompany him.
In Macau, his Chinese contact is murdered in a casino, but English discovers a poker chip in the man's hand with the address of ex-CIA agent Fisher (Richard Schiff) in Hong Kong. Fisher reveals that he is a member of 'Vortex', a secret cabal of assassins, who also sabotaged his mission in Mozambique. Vortex.......
Goofs: Revealing mistakes: When English visits Tucker at his home, and Tucker is playing a racing game on his laptop, the movements of his car in-game seem to have nothing to do with his actions on the keyboard. When he then stands to close the curtains and talk to English, the car continues to behave as if being controlled, showing that it's just a demo video.

A friend of mine warned me to go in with zero expectations. So I did. Iread a few reviews around the internet about the movie, going on abouthow the audience weren't roaring with laughter.
Well that simply wasn't what I just been through. There was a scene ortwo where the audience even started applauding!
Frankly speaking, this movie is a vast improvement over the first one,with heightened unpredictability and more genuine gags.
I think what you'll have to remember, if you're gonna catch it, is thatAtkinson is best known for his slapstick (+silent) comedy, and nothilarious lines like Adam Sandler.
If you're expecting a deep plot and clever dialogue, you won't find itin this movie - though I must say that the move has gotten the balanceof plot, dialogue, and comedy, quite right.

Johnny English is back! The film kicks off swiftly indeed, with Englishbeing retrained for service. If there is one impressive thing, thepacing is spot on. Whilst the first film lent more towards wittydialog, Reborn relies more on visual gags. Standout sequences includeEnglish on a gadget powered wheelchair racing down the streets ofLondon, along with the majority of action scenes. The chair gag in Mi7is also most welcome. The music composer must be commended for arousing score, frequently referencing the Johnny English Theme,particularly during the splendid opening titles sequence. The cast issolid, particularly Rosamund Pike. Whilst Ben Miller does not appearunfortunately, Daniel Kaluuya does an average job of replacing thesidekick role as Agent Tucker. The other performances are pretty spoton.
Overall Oliver Parker and Rowan Atkinson have made a fun, entertainingfilm, barely missing the heights of the first adventure. Stay for theafter credits scene!

Johnny English 2 is fantastic. I watched it before it came out and Ihave to say, once it comes out everyone MUST go see it. It is not atotal slapstick, childishly funny comedy. Quite the contrary; JohnnyEnglish Reborn is an amazing movie that entertains all ages. My motherwas in hysterics at some points in the movie. I highly recommend thisto everyone and anyone. The plot is not the simplest but not thehardest to follow either. There are many funny moments, many of whichare in the trailer. The action is very...active. There is no gore orexcessive blood. Most of the deaths are portrayed humorously and havefunny sides. My positive review comes with one warning. Be EXTREMELYcareful, no matter who you are with, where you are watching it, or whenyou are watching it, as this movie may cause excessive laughter. :)Enjoy.
